Maasai Mara National Park
About Maasai Mara National Park
The Masai Mara National Reserve, a wide plain that is always covered with grass, occupies approximately 1510 square kilometers in south east Kenya. It is adjacent to Serengeti National Park of Tanzania at the south. This famous game reserve is unmatched for its wide range of wild animals that have been conserved within the environment.
It offers a unique package for tourists in East Africa who would wish to experience a Kenyan safari. This park is a home to many wild animals such as lions, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, cape buffaloes, wildebeests, giraffes, zebras, among many other large mammals that predominate the Kenyan capital city; they live in the natural environment of the park and move around freely throughout the vast Kenyan plains for most part without any human settlement in sight.
It is not shocking that people come from different parts of the world just to have a tour in Masai Mara as it has been included among other New Seven Wonders of the World. The name has an interesting background. The first part “Masai” is actually a reference to the famous Maasai tribe from Kenya which is known for moving around with its livestock across a wide region while searching for greener pastures. While the second part “Mara” means spotted looking in the local language of Swahili because of those many short trees making spots in general landscapes there.
