After a short briefing, embark on a scenic 6-hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park in southwestern Uganda, one of the country’s most beautiful regions. Along the journey, enjoy views of lakes, rivers, mountains, forests, and rural landscapes, while observing Ankole cattle and local communities in trading centers. The trip includes stopovers at the Equator crossing for photos, Igongo Cultural Centre for cultural insights, and local markets to explore fresh tropical fruits, with lunch served en route before continuing to the park.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise
After breakfast, head out for an early morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park to spot early risers and predators such as lions, leopards, buffaloes, hippos, and antelopes, along with a variety of resident and migratory birds. The 3-hour drive takes place in the Kasenyi or Mweya plains, offering excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. After returning to the lodge for lunch and relaxation, continue to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. This wildlife-rich channel attracts large numbers of animals, including elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes, and hippos, as well as diverse bird species, making it one of the best wildlife viewing experiences in the park.
Day 3: Game drive in Ishasha – Bwindi national park
After breakfast, enjoy a final game drive in the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, famous for its rare tree-climbing lions often seen resting on acacia and fig trees. After the game drive, continue your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a lunch stop along the way, then arrive at your lodge for relaxation and overnight stay.
Day 4: Tracking gorillas in Bwindi – Visit the Batwa Pygmies
After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a mandatory briefing before starting your gorilla trekking experience. You will be assigned a gorilla family based on your fitness level, then trek through the forest in search of these incredible primates. Once found, spend an unforgettable hour observing the gorillas in their natural habitat, along with other wildlife such as birds and monkeys. After the trek, return to the starting point and transfer back to your lodge for lunch and relaxation.
Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala for departure
After breakfast, depart at your convenience from Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for an 8-hour return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. Along the way, enjoy optional stopovers at the Igongo Cultural Centre, the Equator crossing, and local craft sites such as the Buganda royal drum makers before being dropped off at the airport or your hotel.
